Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders
Our individualized therapy sessions help children speak with confidence! We take the time to get to know each child’s interests and incorporate them into engaging, motivating sessions. Therapy may include evidence-based approaches such as Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), Rapid Syllable Transition (ReST) training to improve speech sound accuracy and clarity. We also have specialized expertise in Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), providing targeted support to help children develop consistent, intelligible speech.
Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) occur when the muscles of the face, mouth, or tongue do not work together in a coordinated way. These patterns can affect how a child eats, speaks, breathes, and even how their teeth and jaw develop.
Our therapy focuses on helping children learn healthy muscle function for clearer speech, efficient chewing and swallowing, and proper resting tongue and lip posture. Using evidence-based exercises, we teach children how to strengthen and coordinate their oral and facial muscles in fun, engaging ways.
Caregivers play an important role in this process—we provide coaching and simple home activities to help children practice new skills and make lasting progress between sessions.
Literacy/Dyslexia
We support children with reading and spelling challenges, including dyslexia, using a structured literacy approach that is both effective and engaging. Our therapy sessions are tailored to each child’s needs and interests, combining systematic instruction with fun, motivating activities that build confidence and success.
Our methods are informed by evidence-based programs such as Lively Letters, Smarter Intervention, IMSE/Orton-Gillingham, and Reading Simplified. We focus on developing strong phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, and comprehension skills to help children become confident, independent readers.

Madi Rose-Dockweiler
Madi Rose-Dockweiler, M.S., CCC-SLP is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to helping children and adolescents build strong speech, language, and literacy skills and confidence.
Madi earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Miami University in 2021 and her master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Governors State University in 2024.
Originally from Illinois, Madi relocated to Ohio in 2024 and joined the team at Speak Life Speech Therapy, where she provides evidence-based, client-centered care. She has experience working with children and adolescents in a variety of areas, including speech sound disorders, receptive and expressive language development, literacy, voice, and social communication. Madi is dedicated to using evidence-based practices to support each child’s individual needs.
Madi is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with clients and families and believes in creating a supportive, encouraging environment that promotes growth and success.

Owner & Lead Speech Language Pathologist
Lynn Smallwood
Lynn Smallwood is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with a passion for helping children find their voices and build confidence in communication. She brings a thoughtful, child-centered approach to therapy, meeting each child where they are and supporting steady, meaningful progress.
Lynn has experience working with children across a wide range of speech and language needs, specializing in severe speech sound disorders, motor speech disorders including Childhood Apraxia of Speech, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and literacy including dyslexia. She believes therapy should be engaging, supportive, and rooted in strong relationships—with both children and their families. Known for her calm presence and encouraging style, Lynn creates a safe and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating successes. She values collaboration with caregivers and other professionals to ensure therapy goals carry over into everyday life.
Lynn has been practicing for over 10 years, serving children in early intervention, the local schools, and now private practice. She earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Cincinnati and has since received specialized training in motor speech assessment and diagnosis and treatment approaches such as DTTC and ReST; structured literacy programs (Orton Gillingham) such as IMSE (Comprehensive and Advanced), Lively Letters, Smarter Intervention, and Reading Simplified; and many hours of intense and advanced training in myofunctional therapy, in my journey to becoming an IAOM Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM). She is committed to ongoing learning and evidence-based practice to provide high-quality care to the families she serves.

Courtney Hoying
Courtney Hoying is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and a valued member of the Speak Life team. She loves helping children build confidence in their communication skills through fun, engaging, and meaningful therapy sessions.
Courtney enjoys working with children as they develop early language, speech sounds, and communication skills—using fun, motivating activities to help each child feel successful. She believes in taking a child-centered approach, creating a safe and welcoming environment where kids feel comfortable taking risks, trying new skills, and celebrating their successes. She believes therapy should be both effective and enjoyable, and she tailors each session to the child’s interests to keep them motivated and excited to participate.
Courtney earned master's degree in Speech Language Pathology in August 2025 from the University of Cincinnati and is currently working toward earning her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). She is always learning, growing, and using evidence-based strategies to help children succeed and families feel supported.

Occupational Therapy Services
Our pediatric occupational therapists support children in developing the skills they need for everyday activities, promoting independence, confidence, and participation at home, school, and in the community. We work with children who have physical, cognitive, sensory, or developmental challenges.
Stephanie Buehler is an Occupational Therapist. She is the owner of Helping Hands Therapeutic, LLC. She has been working in the field of OT for 18 years. Stephanie has a strong passion for working in the areas of sensory integration, visual perceptual challenges, behavior management, body work, oral motor challenges, feeding challenges, fine motor delays and neurological re-education.
