Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
No, we are a private-pay-only clinic and do not bill or accept any insurance plans (including Medicaid). This model allows us to provide highly individualized, flexible therapy, shorter wait times, more direct focus on your child’s unique goals, and without insurance restrictions.
Why choose private pay instead of using insurance? Private pay gives families complete freedom to:
-
Choose their preferred therapist and schedule
-
Work on goals important to your family (social communication, articulation for school confidence, feeding, early language, etc.) — even if they’re not deemed “medically necessary” by insurance
-
Avoid long authorization/wait processes and session limits
-
Receive longer or more intensive sessions when needed. Many families find the personalized care and reduced paperwork worth the investment.
How long are sessions?
-
Initial evaluation (if needed) 90-120 minutes
-
Standard therapy sessions can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Session length and frequency are determined based on a number of things including: severity and need, scheduling, finances, and family preferences.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, checks, and cash. A credit/debit card is kept on file for easy billing after each session.
Do you offer any other payment options?
We do!! We are scholarship providers for the Jon Peterson and Autism scholarships through the Ohio Department of Education. These scholarships are available to students who have an IEP through their home school district but choose to attend private school or are homeschooled.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to start therapy?
No referral is required. Speech-language pathology is an autonomous profession — you can self-refer and schedule directly with us.
What does the initial evaluation include? The evaluation typically lasts 90-120 minutes and includes:
-
Detailed parent/caregiver interview
-
Standardized and informal testing (as appropriate for your child’s age and needs)
-
Observation of your child’s communication skills
-
Discussion of findings and recommendations
-
A written report with goals and a proposed therapy plan. You’ll receive the report after the evaluation.
How often will my child need therapy?
Frequency is highly individualized. Most children start with 1–2 sessions per week (30–60 minutes each). Some benefit from more intensive schedules (e.g., 2–3×/week for a period) or less frequent maintenance sessions. We’ll recommend a plan after the evaluation based on your child’s needs and your family’s schedule.
What ages do you work with?
We specialize in pediatric therapy and typically see children from early intervention (birth–3) through school age and adolescence (up to age 18), depending on the therapist’s expertise.
Do you provide parent coaching or home programs?
Yes — caregiver involvement is a key part of our approach. Most sessions include time for parent education, modeling strategies, and home-practice recommendations so you can support progress between visits.
What happens if my child is already receiving speech therapy at school?
School-based therapy and private therapy are complementary. Private sessions allow us to target goals the school may not address (e.g., social pragmatics, articulation precision, feeding, higher-level language), provide more frequent/intensive support, or work during summer/breaks.
Can I get a superbill or receipt for possible HSA/FSA or partial reimbursement?
Yes. We provide detailed receipts / superbills after each session or evaluation that include diagnosis codes (if applicable), CPT codes, therapist credentials, and session dates. You can submit these to your HSA/FSA administrator or insurance for possible reimbursement (reimbursement is never guaranteed).
How do I get started?
Simply contact us via phone/email/website to schedule a free 10–15 minute phone consultation (or initial evaluation if preferred). We’ll answer questions, discuss your concerns, and find the best fit for your child.
